English translation
Therefore, the Council has considered that the aforementioned His Esteem for this special vigilance, and that in rain and wind outside the Compton, farmers, freemen, etc. the word of the Lord must be preached, and because of this great inconvenience is suffered, not at all, like other preachers everywhere in India (having a fixed place and profession) receive, to a pay of the Company, and we are truly conscious of being so observant everywhere in India, have in that view, in Council, on the name and upon the approval of our Lord Superiors, seen fit to confirm ourselves with the aforementioned order and His Reverence. Likewise, to favor it, as we hereby do, with the surplus of his salary since the arrival of Commander Borghorst, as after that time, having noticed special zeal (the …92 of this year being a year) his dues were well received, so that his dues, thus inclining, are all the more obliged to attend and help continue the true service of God, Church, and School, as a zealous attendant.
Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the day and year aforesaid.
