English translation

Also to the Lord Joan Thijsen Raat of India, by Her Honor. in Batavia the Command of this returning fleet stationed at sea has been delegated, and as the Commissioner of this Residence authorizes, a petition from Lidia de Paap, wife of the deported Hendrik Lakus, former sub-merchant and bookkeeper of the fortress, has been handed over to His E. in the ordinary evening meeting, in which she humbly begs the petitioner, together with her two children, to be released from her detention on the Robben Island (as she has been condemned, pursuant to a resolution of March 7, 1668, to remain in arrest with her husband until the funds stolen from him and embezzled from the E. Company have been brought to light), as she is innocent of the fraud, and slingse gale with her husband, in the aforementioned quality committed, So it is that His E. has presented the petitioner's request to E. Commander Borghorst and the respective Council, that according to style of law one could not refuse her (as not punishable for offences committed with her husband) to come here, provided that she is outside the charge of E. Compe. and the deacons of this Colony, having to support them with their children, to which she, as a diligent, energetic, and dexterous woman, is judged capable by those who know her hard work, whether it should not be fetched from there by boat on the first available occasion, especially since her husband has previously requested in writing that his wife and two children be fetched from Robben Island, and that she might bring them here with them. The proposal having been carefully considered by E. Borghorst and Council, it was decided unanimously, after both pro and con, to allow her and her children to come here on the first available occasion.

In Fort de Goede Hoope, the aforementioned was done, decided, and arrested.
