Noted on the 15th of June 1662 to the freeman Elbert Diemer upon his serious request alone was allowed to buy from the Comps. warehouses the following vivres in the bulk of the E. Comp. and then to peddle them again with the small measure to our garrison people as well as other freemen who are necessary with a small profit at any time, for reasons our common poor soldiers from this warehouses for buying a nut54 of olive or vinegar etc. daily and all those who cannot well be accommodated and helped, However, later on the aforementioned benefit was again withdrawn and abolished by the E. Commander Cornelis van Quaelbergen. However, finding that it is considerably more than just accommodation for our aforementioned garrison, and that it is not possible to have all the eggs available for sale daily and in the small quantities mentioned above, it has been understood and established in Council that the aforementioned Elbert Diemer, at his humble request (as it is not possible for him to make a living at tailoring these days, and he could not make a good living on his own, besides being a man who does not involve himself in the slightest bit of gambling or pub-making, but who attends the church as an elder with a good living), will once again grant and only allow the aforementioned benefit of the sale and purchase as before, and because the prices have since increased somewhat, The buying and selling must be done as follows:

Again, with this interdiction, if it is discovered in Diemer that he has sold something contrary to the above prices, that not only will the aforementioned benefit be taken away from him and given to another, but he will also be subject to a fine of 50 ryxrs.
Similarly, in Rade, the town councilor Thieleman Hendricksz has been granted permission to tap in his newly built house, located about a musket shot east of this fortress, with the understanding that the privilege of tapping outside his farmstead will be transferred accordingly, and consequently, at this cost, he will no longer be able to set fines or tap on the penalty of 100 ryxrs. for the first, 200 ryxrs. for the second and third time, the confiscation of the aforementioned farmstead, having been found to be contrary and discovered.
Thus done and resolved at Fort de Goede Hoope on Cabo de Boa Esperance, date as above. The names were Jacob Borghorst, Cornelis de Cretzer, Johannes Coon, and Jacob Granaet.
After collation, this was found to be in agreement with its principals, as held here in the account. Adij, April 9, 1669. Present at my office: W. van Vlieter, First Clerk.

Soo is in Rade oock geconsenteert aan den borgerraet Thieleman Hendricksz om in zijn nieuw gemaeck[te] huijsinge omtrent een musquetschoot beoosten dese fortresse staende, te tappen wel te verstaen dat de previlegie van buijten op zijn hoffstede te tappen daer mede zal cesseren, ende oversulcx naer desen costij geen gelagen meer zal vermogen te setten off te tappen op de verbeurte van 100 Ryxrs. voor d’ eerste, 200 Ryxrs. voor de twede ende confiscatie van genoemde hoffstede voor de derde reijse, soo ter contrarie gedaen te hebben bevonden en achterhaelt wort.
