As yesterday, with the arrival of the ship Zuijt Polsbrouck, also arrived here Mr. Arnout van Overbeke, chief merchant and Council of Justice on Batavia, and before this court still undecided are pending certain differences, and principal in case of injury between Miss Prignon wed: the late Petrus Wachtendorp, in his life a minister of the Divine Word here, and the provisional lieutenant Abraham Schut. So the honorable Council found good and arrested the said His E., in respect of a legal scholar, and our Council has been reduced by two persons, to be accepted here as a fellow member of the Council. Please also do the same to the sub-merchant, Sr. Parve, in this matter, in order to help, as impartial judges, settle the aforementioned differences with us, if possible.
Thus done and resolved, at Fort de Goede Hoope, at Cabo d'Boa Esperance, on the date and year aforesaid.

Alsoo op gisteren met de komst van ‘t schip Zuijt Polsbrouck alhier mede is komen aen te landen d’ heer Arnout van Overbeke, oppercoopman en Raet van de Justitie op Batavia, en voor desen gerechte noch ongedecideert zijn hangende seekere verschillen, en principael in cas van injurie tusschen juffr. Prignon wede: zaliger Petrus Wachtendorp, in zijn leven bedienaer des Goddelijken Woorts alhier en den provisioneel luitenant Abraham Schut, Soo is door den achtbaren Raet goetgevonden, en gearresteert gemelte Sijn E., ten opsichte een rechtsgeleerde en onsen Raet van 2 persoonen vermindert is, alhier als een mede lith in den Raet te assumeren. Soo oock den ondercoopman sr. Parve gelijk doen bij desen, omme alsoo als onpartijdige rechters, voorsz verschillen, met ons, mogelijck zynde, helpen af te doen.
Aldus gedaen en geresolveert, in ‘t Fort de Goede Hoope, aen Cabo d’ Boa Esperance, ten dage ende jare voorsz.
