English translation

Since yesterday we have received further statements from various persons regarding the difficulties that arose with the ship Vrede, and the ship was also put at our disposal by the sub-merchant Willem Born, who has made a certain request in which he very humbly requests to be allowed to speak frankly about his affairs (concerning him and the sick comforter in the ranks). It has been decided by the Council to first have all the documents recollected by the councilors appointed yesterday, and then further to inform us more closely and instinctively on all points by interrogatory: in order to proceed further, as appropriate, after a thorough and sincere investigation of the matters; as well, but since the many defects are suffered on that ship itself (to bring it to reconvalescence through refreshments) it cannot be done in the first place, and that the heaviest weight is the basic origin: and the rudder fins of all the resulting ones must have difficulties: to provide such order and remedy in all regulations and the ship's government as for the preservation of that costless ship at the greatest service of the E. Compe. would be found to be required.

Thus done and resolved in 't Fort de Goede Hoope date above.
