English translation

Thus the Reverend Dominee Petrus Wachtendorp, 24th to the 25th of November, from the departed ship De Beurs, to our knowledge stayed in order to take care of his frail body, which as yet was entirely unsuitable, to go to sea again, to be able to bring it back to its former health by good means, and then to begin his further journey to India from here again at the first opportunity, And that in the meantime the said E. Wachtendorp had been so reassured that he would be able to depart on the ship De Gerechtigheij, So the presiding preacher who is reminding us here, the Reverend Dominee. Joannes de Voocht, (from the ship Constantia ashore at the request of E. Zacharias Wagenaar, to await the permanent presidency, as became more apparent by resolution of March 5th of this year), therefore, to persuade the aforementioned E. Wachtendorp to stay, since he now had sufficient strength to assume his office in this congregation, consequently, both through commissioners from the Church Council, and in person, to us because of his demission from here, immediately requested by the aforementioned ship the Gerechticheij, and as his Es. 26 request (in our opinion) exists in reasonableness, So it is that at this meeting, by unanimous vote, we have understood and resolved, To grant General E. de Voocht his request, and to retain the parish priest E. Wachtendorp in his place with us, in order to await the expected permanent presiding officer, or another whom His E. might be willing to release.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
