English translation

Since the winter ships to be sent later, which we had expected from our homeland here in the past months of May or June, have not yet appeared, and we cannot be sure about this, or about this month or the coming month, our special desire for them will be put to rest in these very troubled times, primarily because, after the departure of the last return fleet from the Patriam, we have not yet had the opportunity, as usual, to send our petition for rice, arrack, clothes, and more other very necessary supplies for this large garrison to Batavia. Therefore, as we have now left our further speculation and considerations regarding the aforementioned delay of the said Dutch ships and, in accordance with this, decided to sail the Hoecker boat down the Pimpel to Batavia by the middle or no later than the 20th of this month, in order to be able to deliver not only the necessary advice and advice, but also all the letters and other documents left us by the commanders of the most recently departed return fleet, thither, in order to be able to deliver them to Her Ede, there, for their safe voyage, as well as hearing of the good health here, the sooner we can be kept free from all further worries and concerns, and (if it were possible) we will be provided with everything again this year.

And afterwards also the Ed. Mr. Rijckloff van Goens, Superintendent on the island of Ceylon, by the first two sent return ships, from there, namely Venenburch and 't Kalf (which both appeared here safe and sound on the 6th of March last year, and then departed with the fleet for the homeland) in his letter of the 28th of December in the year 1945 very earnestly requested that we return his Edt at the first opportunity. with one or other navel wishing to make known what might have happened since then in Europe between ours and our evil neighbours, in matters concerning the war, It has been resolved and established as now, that we also send the hunter the Crowned Harinck at the beginning of the coming month of August, to that end, to the said island with our advice, and with a request that the said hunter be sent back to us fully loaded with rice as soon as possible, considering both the aforementioned. We can certainly do without these booths for some time now, because we are so well provided for by their constant supply of the necessary materials for these constructions that we will not need their further assistance for the first three or four months, especially since we can clearly see and realize that with a longer stay here from both ships, the large, salaried crew employed there would be provided by the E. Company, as well as us (because they still have to maintain our meager daily supplies) for a single charge.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
