Just as yesterday the flute vessel 't Waterhoen, as the eighth and last ship that remained among the departed fleet of the E. Commander Lairesse, finally also arrived here safe (thank God), and all 36 healthy sailors it had brought with it had not had to wander at sea for six months because of its lack of sailing; So it has now come to our attention that the aforementioned ship, instead of the Zeeridderken (which recently departed from here to reinforce the fleet of the aforementioned Commander Lairessen), should not have been sent to Batavia with all the general and private letters that were left for us to order by various persons before the departure of that fleet, in view of the fact that the large Amsterdam fleet, which we all expected to arrive in about a month, is thus delaying so long, or that it should furthermore be sent to the aforementioned fleet in accordance with the order of the E.E. The Lords Masters in the fatherland were to proceed, whereupon, after due deliberation, it was unanimously understood and determined that the aforementioned ship, as soon as the crew on it had been properly refreshed, would furthermore depart after the aforementioned fleet, and for that purpose it would be reinforced with 12 or 15 of the bravest men from the sick crew left behind from the ship Oraingie,247 who, likewise, on the 16th of this month sent the same fleet with confidence that the expected flute would soon come thundering up, in order then to send the many letters previously sent, together with our latest advice, concerning what had happened at this corner, before the departure of the last besendingh nae Batavia will be able to bring.
Thus done and resolved in Fort de Goede Hoope on the day and year as above.
