English translation

Notwithstanding the recent resolution of August 21st, which lastly stated that the Sea Knight, having completed his voyage to St. Helena, would send again via Madagascar and Mauritius to Batavia to ascertain whether the four remaining return ships were or had been to those islands, and to report on this to the Governor-General and Council of India, this resolution was again discontinued with another on the 30th following, upon the arrival of the ship the Coghe, which brought news that a very notable vessel was present, with a fleet of ships that could be expected every day, commanded by the Reverend Huijbert de Lai Resse as Admiral, and with a Commissioner of this place would be appointed, for which reason it has been resolved to have the said ship remain here until the arrival of the aforementioned Hr. Admiral, so that in the event of any ships lagging behind, it will not be used for this purpose or otherwise as may be understood. Therefore, after careful deliberation, it has been decided that the aforementioned ship, the Zeeridder, will accompany this fleet, primarily because it is very necessary to conceal the convoy of the well-manned and battle-ready ship Orangien, and consequently to reinforce this fleet.

Furthermore, having requested some persons in Rade to make a request for amendments, it was also understood that these should be approved, and the following deeds are dictating their approval:

Abraham Gabbema from The Hague arrived here on the flute ship Vogelesang on December 2, 1656, as a midshipman. Since the aforementioned period, this position has been used in the pay-office and subsequently, through good representation, improved by the Reverend Pieter Sterthemius to the position of bookkeeper and fiscal, and with one, charged with overseeing all the accounts. The working class here, in whom he has satisfactorily acted as a vigilante, will subsequently, at his request and ability, be granted the rank of under-merchant, with a remuneration of forty guilders per month, provided that he will serve for another five years from the date of this sentence, exiled, and the salary begins today.

Hendrick Lacus van Wesel, arrived here on the ship Orangien on July 11th. 1659 for midshipman, and since advanced to assistant through good performances, is newly, at his request and in consideration of the good testimonies of his service, again improved and granted the quality of bookkeeper and secretary, with a remuneration of thirty guilders per month and a merchant's salary, effective today, provided he still has three years after the expiration of his first banishment to serve.

Pieter Evrart van Cruijssart arrived here on the flute ship Harp ao. 1658, for a corporal commander, who has since been promoted to sergeant in view of his capacity, and later to sergeant, is again, at his request and required competence, advanced to salesman, with a remuneration of thirty-six guilders per month, provided that from today onwards he will still be obliged to serve the E. Compe. for five years.

Jochim Blanck van Lubeeck arrived here in the country with the ship Salamander. 1655 for midshipman, subsequently improved to twenty-four guilders as dispenser, to manage the warehouses and stores of this fortress, and subsequently granted the position of first assistant, since which time his service has been satisfactory. Upon his request and required competence, the position of bookkeeper is again granted, with a remuneration of thirty guilders per month, provided that the E. Compe. will serve for three more years after the end of his exile.

Cornelis de Cretser from Cuijlemborgh, who arrived here in June 1661 on board the ship 't Wapen van Hollant as a midshipman, has since been employed at the pay office and proof of his capacity has been given there. At his request and required ability, he is appointed assistant, with a reward of eighteen guilders per month, commencing today, provided he is required to serve the E. Compe. for five years from now on.

Jan Duijnsbergen from The Hague, who arrived here in 1659 on the yacht "De Hector" in Meert, which has since been used here at the counter and has given proof of penmanship, is, at his request and for his ability, granted the position of assistant with a reward of eighteen guilders per month, provided he will be required to serve the E. Compe. for another five years from today. His sentence and banishment take effect today.

Carel van Opdorp from Cuijlemborgh, who arrived here in 1661 on the ship "De Wapen van Hollant," for a young man, 6 guilders per month, which has since been penned has been used, and satisfaction245 is given, the quality of young assistant is granted at his request and ability, with a remuneration of twelve guilders per month, and to be obliged from now on to serve the E. Compe. for another five years, the wages and banishment taking effect today.

Hans Michiel Wolff of Straesborgh arrived here on the ship Amersfoort on February 16 of this year as a midshipman, who has since been employed as a cook in the E. Commander's cabin, and in view of the considerable amount of work to be done there, with the arrival of the captains of the arriving and departing ships. In which service he is satisfied, a salary of eighteen guilders per month, commencing today, is granted at his request and upon his eligibility, provided he will serve as cook for another five years after this date.

Thus done and resolved at the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
