The Commander and Councillor of the fort the Goede Hope with the chief captains of the ship the Phenix and162 the Nagelbo[om] there on board, having heard some quarrels, mainly between the sub-merchant and sergeant of the soldiers, also a few, between the skipper of the aforementioned Nagel[boom] and the said sub-merchant Lodt, which in view could not be put to rest well, except by transferring the aforementioned sergeant named Thomas Smidth, and two midshipmen named Ariaen Decker and Johannis Heems[kerck], This is to prevent more disputes and resulting disasters, we have unanimously agreed to allow the aforementioned sergeant to transfer without prejudice to his quality to the ship Phenix, and that from that ship he should land again on the Naegelboom, together with the next two midshipmen: to sail with the nearest ships to Batavia, and163 to request and admonish the aforementioned skipper and merchant to remain content with this, and during the voyage to Batavia to keep their progress quiet without question and everyone to their own, of which the articules and the orders of our Lord Masters can serve as regulations, as well as the interpretations of some points in abundance shall be done.
Thus done and resolved on the ship Nagelboom, on the wharf before the Ford of Good Hope at Cabo de Boa Esperance on this 19th of June, 1660.
