English translation

By the Commander and Council of the Ford the Goede Hope, having sailed expressly to the ship Amersfoordt and being reinforced there by the chief captains of the ships moored here, having inspected and collected the pieces and items charged to Roeloff Boute, boss on d.o. Amersfoort, and in view of the sufficient confession of the perpetrant in accordance with the certificates, but with the expression that the defendant first moved him, and on several occasions drew a knife on him, ran after him and cut him, while he was forced to defend himself, without knowing whether the other had run into his knife himself, or not, that he had not been drawn, but was carrying a piece of bacon in his hand to eat, and because the defendant is also still alive and of the cherub's reasonable hope is at best, so one cannot well imagine that further proceedings can be initiated, unless with longer notice with the aforementioned people on the aforesaid ship Amersfoort, that along with all the other ships currently sailing ready to depart for Batavia with the first good wind. It is not understood that this can be caused by any offense, but it has been decided to stop the business and let the aforementioned perpetrant and patient remain on the said ship with the aforementioned pieces and articles and depart to see how the patient will fare in the meantime, and then, after a period of failure, to dispose of such items as the Broad Council of the respective ships, Amersfoort, Walvis, Vlissingen, Zirckzee, and Naarden, will find appropriate, since all of these are currently ready, to to depart from this roadstead simultaneously with the first good wind, with the intention of allowing God's weather and wind to permit them to remain with the other until Batavia.

Thus done and resolved on the ship Amersfoort, in the roadstead before the Fort of Good Hope. Date above.
