English translation

Considering that the covering with the newly invented baked tiles on the water grain mill has succeeded very well, and has created a good fireproof roof for outside fire, whereas in contrast the thatched roof (with which all of the Comp's houses inside and outside the fort are still covered) poses a great risk from outside fire and flying sparks from chimneys and otherwise, which most recently became apparent during the burning of Freeman Henri Boom's house, when one had one's hands full, preserving the said Comp's thatched roofs with water pouring from the flying sparks, etc., It is, after mature deliberation, at the disposal of the E. Compe. and in order to ensure the greatest security of the said houses and their contents, it was deemed most necessary, and accordingly resolved, to have all of the Company's houses covered with backed tiles, and to have the reed removed, as well as to see to it that it can be sold to the freemen, in order to meet the new expenses as much as possible; then, with the free stone and tile backer, Wouter Cornelisz Mostart (who is also a free miller) first agrees for the E. Compe. To prepare as many tiles as will be required for the aforementioned fineness, namely 6 inches wide and 12 inches Rijnlandt long, for 10 guilders per thousand, to be covered on the roof, provided that the E. Company, at their own expense, will have them brought back from the kiln by carts or wagons.

And furthermore, the tile deck must also have very straight slats sawn. It has also been agreed with the independent wood sawer, Leendert Cornelisz van Zevenhuijsen, that the E. Company will supply the necessary slats, with a sawing diameter of at least an inch square, for 13 guilders. the hundred feet of planks, of which they shall be sawn.

Thus resolved and arrested in the Fort of Good Hope for the day and year as above.
