Den Raedt (reinforced with the chief captains of the ship the Gecroonde Leeuw, and the return yacht Erasmus) after various information taken and the examinations carried out, by voluntary confession outside of the pain of bands, icers, or threats thereof, it was evident and the right to do so had proven to be satisfactory, the will to Comps. to overrun the fortress, and make a complete U-turn here, and then to run off with the costly laden return yacht Erasmus, as well as the execrable enormous north, and to burn down all the houses, sheds, etc., under this with one intention by the persons Hendrick van Cloppenburg, Pieter Barber van Aemstede,104 Jacob Dircx van Antwerp, Patricq ‘t Jocq van Glasco, Marcus Tomelson van Ogel, Jacob Born van Glasco, Pasquael Rodrigo van Teneriffe and Claes …105 Wiskebroeck van Lingericq. And that the principal first leader and organizer of everything was the aforementioned sheepkeeper Hendr. Hendr. van Cloppenburgh according to the unanimous declaration of all the nominated confessors, and in accordance with the confession of Cloppenburg's own friend Jacob Born, who declares similarly and that of the same he was seduced to do so &a. and he had taken the oath of allegiance from all of Cloppenburg with hand-wringing, and had also received money from each to buy gunpowder and lead, as well as tobacco and provisions, in execution of which all the aforementioned had been agreed upon, which had been gathered on Sunday (the 14th of this month, December) at the Corenhoop redoubt, just as it was first discovered by the Commander and Council of this fortress that same day in the afternoon around two o'clock by the Chief Curist, Mr. William Robberson van Dondeij, etc. the aforementioned Cloppenburg (who had escaped since Monday the 15th, and was fugitive until Friday the 19th, and as a result was taken into custody) is completely and willingly denying it, understanding that he would be responsible for everything and captive, although today for the second time with 100 lb. weight has been given to the plea and of which the full Council himself has also been convinced by his own mother, and continues to persist steadfastly, in no other or further confession than that which all the other confessors, the aforementioned as a complication, had helped to agree to, according also to the further examination taken today on this matter by the aforementioned Council from the same, In this way one thinks to notice that this Cloppenburg himself had confessed, and might well have decided for that reason not to confess further but to confess all pains etc. to stand by,

Thus, the Commander (making a serious case for various reasons, although the Council sufficiently confirms that he is Cloppenburg's principal suspect and the only first accuser, and, according to him, also the most guilty) proposed that it was not so good that no further proceedings should be taken with him and the aforementioned confessors, but that further examination should be carried out on several others in custody, in addition to all the aforementioned, as well as carefully examining some others who are even more outside of this and are also accused, in order to be able to follow up all those who might be connected to him in the least, and thus, in time and while avoiding this, the decision of The aforementioned serious, critical cases were suspended in the meantime, until the return flight from India arrived here, apparently in 6 or 7 weeks. This was to be communicated to the Commander of that State, who, as possible, would be one of the Councillors of India, our highest authority and (as in previous years) Commissioner for this matter. Furthermore, with His Eminent and Broad Council, they possess greater experience and wisdom to proceed and ultimately litigate such serious, critical cases, and so on. The Commander, by this sanctified delegation, declares that he has never been involved in or near them.

Whereupon then the 107th Council (fortified as before) by the aforementioned Commander. each vote having been rejected, after long consideration, and also considering that it is too perilous to send such criminals (captured) by any ship to Batavia, which is also contrary to the 11th article of the general letter of articles,108 It is unanimously understood and determined that the decision on the aforementioned serious criminal cases should be postponed until the arrival of the aforementioned return fleet, and in the meantime the prisoners should be somewhat loosened from their bonds and kept in good security, in a fixed place, two by two, in chains. And furthermore, those who have little guilt other than by seduction of the aforementioned principal prisoners, should decide their case civilly, and in addition to all the English and Scots, who were found innocent of this, as well as invited from the Hottentoes war, d This year, it was lifted (most of the ship Orangie) by the ship the Gecroonde Leeuw, which was moored here, and exchanged it for some other one after leaving Batavia in order to be able to sense all the injustice in this place.

Addressing the chief cherurgine Mr. William Robbertson Welcke as an honorably pious man for the Gem. has discovered a conspiracy and has reported it to the Commander and Raedt by tyts,109 It is understood that the premium of 50 reales of 8 and in accordance with the articulbrieff is to be applied to the 14 and articul110 in cash in accordance with the articulation letter110, and the reasons for advancement & a. progress there in Thu. Article by which he expresses suspends his presence until the arrival of the aforementioned Commander of the return fleet.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope, date above.
