The Council of the fortress of Good Hope (fortified with the captains of the ships Erasmus and the Crowned Lion) having been busy for three days now, taking information, conducting examinations, etc., concerning the very execrable and enormous plan of some persons against the Company's fortress and the yacht Erasmus, as well as of the same servants and all free residents here, with assaults, murders, fires, etc., and how far this matter has now come. that the aforementioned Council, on the aforementioned clear indications, through examinations complete and more than satisfactory, has been shown by the voluntary confession of the persons mentioned below, that they had intended to begin their raid last Sunday evening at the third glass if they could have obtained their men (who had already given their consent to this) from the others, of which one of the principals was received into understanding around five o'clock that same Sunday evening, and the next day99 the rest, except two, namely, Hendrick Hendricxsz van Cloppenburgh and Jacob Born van Glasco, sheep guards,100 which they appointed fugitives and these also received into understanding, and have come to the aforementioned confession, namely:

Pieter Barber of Haamstede, soldier; Jacob Dircxen of Antwerp, soldier; Patricq 't Jock of Glasco, 5th; Marcus Tommelson of Ogel, 5th; and Pasquael Rodriego of Tenerife, bandit.

Thus, after due deliberation, it has been approved and understood, with God's permission, to hold a meeting next Saturday, being the day after tomorrow, to consider the sentence or otherwise, primarily in the interest of the E. Compe. and the best of the public may or may be found acceptable, meanwhile, order has also been established everywhere to possibly capture the two persons who are still fugitive, whether alive or dead, as best they can or will fall, and for that purpose, 25 reals of 8 are appointed on their bodies, alive, and half as many, to prevent any potential harm from them, etc.

And regarding the other five persons in custody, and three more who have given evidence of their departure, after all of whom, nevertheless, no boat of the aforementioned enormous treason can be found; but that some of them had been approached by the aforementioned prisoner confessors to flee through the country to Angola. It is understood that they should remain in a state of enlightened appearance for so long until the main matters of the aforementioned nominees have been dealt with.

Thus resolved and arrested in the Fort of Good Hope, date as above.
