English translation

The Commander and Council of Fort Good Hope, joined by the ship Malacca and reinforced there by its captains, as well as those of the yacht Erasmus, presented the necessities of the aforementioned yacht, given its long and difficult voyage, etc., and noted down by the aforementioned captains, with the accompanying passenger skippers Cornelis Lodewijcksz and Mangus Hendricsz also present in Council for further reinforcement.

Furthermore, the departure or stay of the latter was deliberated, with the aim of ensuring provisions for food and drink afterward, etc.

Thus, the initial understanding (reviewing the submitted memo) was to commit the skipper and the deputy merchant of Mallacca, as well as the deputy merchant Roelof de Man and the fiscal of Fort Abraham Gabbema, to conduct a closer inspection of everything that needed to be done on board, and then, as required by the matter and available resources, to accommodate and arrange for it.

Regarding departure, due to various considerations and feared inconveniences, it was also postponed until the next meeting, so that everyone could take the time to reflect on the proposals made and to be made by the Commander with more mature judgment and to help formulate conclusions in this regard.

Thus done and resolved on the ship Malacca on the wharf before the Fort of Good Hope at Cape Good Hope on the day and year as above.
