The provisional60 skipper Gerrit Abelsen of Amsterdam, present as per yesterday’s resolution to depart with the galley61 Swarte Vos to Persia and Suratta in order to bring there the advice and announcements of the English war effort, which arrived to us from Belgium on the Roode Vos on the 2nd of this month, in Council requesting, as promised to him by the Honourable Mr. Demmers62, Ordinary Councilor of India and Commander of the last63 of the return fleet that departed from here, confirmation of the skipper’s quality and pay, is therefore passed on by this one, since the office on the galley Swarte Vos has been passed since the 15th of April. in the place of the skipper Theunis Aijssen64 who departed with it (having departed with the aforementioned return fleet for the Patria), and previously on the galley by the said Theunis Aijssen, he also held the office of chief bullman, including half the chief bullman's wages and half of the aforementioned departed skipper's salary,65 totaling 50 guilders per month, with the absolute qualification of skipper, for which his time at the E. Compe. will remain obligated to serve. Effective April 15, it was announced that skipper Theunis Aijssen of the aforementioned galley has departed and has held the office as stated in its place.
Thus resolved and arrested in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.

Hr. Demmers62 Ordinaris Raedt van India ende Commandeur over de laeste63 van hier vertrocken retourvlote, de confirmatie van schippers qualite ende gagie, wort derhalven by desen vermits do. ampt. op ‘t galjot de Swarte Vos sedert den 15 April passd. in de plaetse van den daer mede uytgekomen schipper Theunis Aijssen64 (met gemelte retourvlote na ‘t Patria vertrocken), heeft waergenomen ende te voren op do. galjot by geseijden Theunis Aijssen oock het opperstiermansampt, toegeleijt de halve opperstiermansgagie ende de helfft van voorn. vertrocken schipperstractement,65 samen wesende 50 gl. ‘s maents, met de absolute qualite van schipper, waer vooren sijn verbonden tijt aen d’ E. Compe. sal gehouden blijven uyt te dienen, Ingaenden den 15en April versz dat den schipper Theunis Aijssen van voorn. galjot aff gegaen, ende do. ampt als geseijt in desselffs plaetse heefft becleedt.
