English translation
However, since we are too weak here, not only for some exploits, but even in these wartime and troubled times, to... bestial for the stealing of the aforementioned plundering enemies, as well as to protect the bow and houses on land from fire-setting and other inconveniences. So, in order to prevent the aforementioned ship from even a moment's delay, it has been decided, after due deliberation, not to detain it by any writs: but instead to exchange certain persons (better serving at sea than in the militia) for so many soldiers and, in addition, to reinforce us with another 25 or 26, and first to see what can be done with the count of the nearest passing ships, and how matters may progress between the two, to which exchange and relief, firstly, by the Commander. An ordinance will be passed to have the crossing prepared quickly and efficiently, both in and out of the area, without delay, so that the people can first be released for safekeeping at the necessary locations.
Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope, date ut ante.
