Around nine o'clock in the morning the captain came home with a report that yesterday evening about 50 to 60 Hottentoos (being led by Doman and the other acquaintance) had arrived in reasonable condition, as he had hidden himself very well in three groups of embassies, with the appearance of being able to observe them well, etc., but that due to the carelessness of the freeman Herman Remanjenne, they had been discovered too early and thus remained hidden from their signal. It was therefore decided to resume this the sooner the better. And at the end of the morning early the Commander, together with the skipper of the fluijtjen7 with 3 or 4 horses and some soldiers himself completely to to go over and far out near the Bosheuvel, supposedly to make a round or to keep an eye on all the freemen at once, as the Hottentoos of the same are sometimes accustomed to do. And in the evening to return home again early, and also to let the sergeant stay out again, with a group of 18 or 20 of the best soldiers from the Comps. servants and freemen to be chosen, and at night to send them secretly to the Bosheuvel, near the Comps. 20 worst beasts kept there as daredevils, with 5 men, to abuse the Hottentoos by one means or another, and to make them feel a good push if possible, since with our current small force, nothing can be done about them, first or otherwise. The aforementioned soldiers also resolved to add 4 strong slaves armed with hagfish to run down some Hottentoos as they fled and capture them alive, etc.
Thus done and resolved at the Fort of Good Hope, date as above.
