English translation

Since the Council currently consists of no more persons than the Commander. and the under-merchant Roeloff de Man, as well as the soldier's sergeant, who was very ill and therefore rarely used, and who, being present among the Hottentoes warfare, etc., (which came so suddenly that we suspected it), can be deliberated on a daily basis rather than in an ordinary manner. So (given the competence of the fiscal Abraham Gabbema and his knowledge of matters acquired through long experience), which has also been used since the death of the vendor Jan van Herwarden (like the same has been used everywhere, both indoors and outdoors, on all occasions) with the approval of Eden. The Governor-General and Councillors of India understand, to strengthen the aforementioned Council, to accept the same as a member of the Council, and to have the aforementioned cession taken, in addition to the sub-merchant, as well as the assistant Gysbert van Campen, as Secretary in the aforementioned Gabbema's town, who also held the office of treasury, both of whom then took the customary oath.

Thus done and resolved at the Fort of Good Hope, date of this.
