English translation

For the reasons (under the date of this) annotated in the daily register, it was found appropriate to remove all the slaves from the chain, and to use this in the pursuit and negotiation of the Hottentoos as a quick and useful clue, and the note of our greater defense & such., at the highest pregnancies adventure, with the hope that God will allow everything to prosper for the best.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the day and year as above.
