English translation
So, in order to avoid such harmful obstacles in the aforementioned, so highly necessary breeding, it was approved by Comps. to station one or two loyal soldiers on that island: to keep an eye on everything, and to send us one thing after another, besides a slave to also help look after the pigs, and also Ed. Compe. to be half of the aforementioned freemen in the breeding, in order to find the wages of the aforementioned two soldiers from that, as well as to give them good or pay them half of the number present there; To this end, it is also understood that the exchequer should be sent there immediately to inspect and, together, to establish the necessary order on everything, as well as to dig a few more wells, since the one there cannot provide enough water during the dry season for all the pigs, for which the island has sufficient food, including porcelain and other vegetables.
While this deliberation is being presented to us by Rev. Isaac van Twist and the captains of the returning ship Naarden, their modest provision of rest and other provisions, also shows the written order of their Honor. to Batavia, notified by the E. Mr. Director General Carel Hartsingh, that they would be able to furnish them from the Dutch ships meeting here, which assuming their mooring here, none having arrived, it was found acceptable to accommodate them from the Company's warehouse here, with: 1/2 legger Spanish wine; 2 half-fruited olives; 2 ditto vinegar; 2 do. brandy; 3 barrels barley; 3 barrels salt; 2000 lb. bread646; 1 bushel Turkish beans; 1 barrel peck; 1 do. tar; 400 lb. Powder in exchange for that spoiled ship,647 to light another in front of the fort at the convenience of the first arriving ship, which the aforementioned return yacht cannot wait for.
Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope, on the day and year as above.
