English translation

It seems that the boat Emmenhorn arrives here at the right dock this morning after the testimony of the skipper that it is particularly neat and well behaved, and we are not satisfied with the order of her Ed. to Batavia by the latest letters dated December 26. 1657 and the 16th of January ao. has become a past, specifically not to be examined here with one of the lightest ships631 from the homeland, neither coming here nor further examined after the tragic and miserably lost people of the ship the Vergulden Draecq on 't Zuydlandt, provided that it pays attention to the most appropriate thing to do. Zuijdlandt may or may not do so (as stated in its Ed., it is prescribed to be in the months of January, February and Meert), and in particular the present word was neither reasonably early in the month of February. is, and as a result, is not inapparent to be able to achieve the progress required in the next month Moret at the same time, Soo is in accordance with her Ed. The aforementioned letter, and in order to satisfy and comply with the same order, approved the use of the aforementioned boat (to be replaced as soon as possible632 and to send the consignment on the voyage633), and to furnish the chiefs for its refurbishment, in addition to ours, with a copy of their instructions, sent to us in the aforementioned letter and mandated, and as further information, etc., as may be necessary.

And also Corn. Cornz. van. 'smts., subsequently claimed 16 guilders. for house carpenter and therefore his time for that has fully expired and since the place of master carpenter in the place of that ao. passo. has contentedly taken over, because the time expired, then the same is hereby confirmed as master carpenter and added a remuneration of 30 guilders per month, starting from the time that the place as above has taken over, because he is also a good ship's carpenter, and therefore remains committed to repairing and maintaining Comps. vessels; as well as the remaining two years on top of his first commitment to continue the same salary here at the Cape.634

Thus done and resolved at Fort de Goede Hope on the date and year as above.
