English translation

Since the work of the warehouses had become too difficult for the butler Jacob Beeckman, he was sent to Batavia by ship West Vrieslandt and, according to the butler's fee, was returned to his previous position on the ship at 20 guilders. And, in accordance with the order of the Reverend Mr. Cuneus, he was reassigned to cumber at 15 guilders. In order to keep the aforementioned warehouses and storehouses in good order (which is becoming more difficult to maintain than before due to the increasing income of freemen and others), it was decided to appoint a dispenser in place of the butler.

And617 also, for the purpose of observing this, the person Jochum Blancq van Lubeecq is deemed fully suitable, since he has passed through packhouses in the homeland and has lived with merchants, as well as being employed here in various matters, and has given proof of his capacity. Therefore, he was selected for this and awarded a reward of 24 guilders. monthly, being as the previous butler has obtained, according to the deed granted to him and stating:

Jochum Blancq van Lubeecq, who arrived here in 1655 on the ship Salmander for a midshipman at 10 guilders, who has since demonstrated his capacity and diligence in various matters presented here, and after the dispatch of the butler of this fortress (due to his insufficiency) has satisfactorily taken charge of the stores and dependents, etc., as dispenser. Therefore, at his request and in full compliance, etc., he is hereby appointed by the Commander and the Council to the aforementioned capacity of dispenser. The aforementioned warehouses and storehouses of this fortress were confirmed, and a reward of 24 guilders per month was added, commencing November 15th, and remaining bound to serve here for another three years after his initial imprisonment.

It was also understood, in order to obtain full compensation, since the amount required for the protection of Comp's presently requires considerable resources, to order the trumpeter to oversee the sheep hunt and to assign him a boat sling and always a second overseer of Robben Island, so that when a rescued vessel is available, the exchange for a third man may be made. And thus, without using other people, it can be transported at the least expense.

Thus done and arrested in the Fort of Good Hope on the day and year as above.
