English translation

The freemen Maerten Jochumsz Vlockaert and Jan Adriaensz, both from der Goude, on the 8th of this month, absconded with the ship West Vrieslandt and were arrested; as well as the aforementioned Vlockaert, having left behind, besides various debts to other freemen, a sum of ƒ395:06:10 to the E. Compe., including ƒ147:12:066:06 on his closed account for the Dutch debt, of which 250 guilders is to one Henr. Egbertsz607 where E. Compe, is no further in advance than what he is too good, and according to that matter in his freedom enjoyed E. Compe. behind is the sum of ƒ247.14.04 how much from his goods left here cannot be made after all, because he took everything that was loose with him, so that since Marten Jochumsz Vlockers stayed here, Pieter Jacobsz van Bodegrave (who for this purpose with the aforementioned Vlockaert placed for both of them in the boat and therefore everything that is half due to him and also owes) has requested that he may keep the fishing and the remaining goods, house or huts and the six morgens of garden land alone for the entire debt of ƒ247:14:04 seeing that everything has helped to accomplish etc., It has been deemed appropriate to approve and grant the same to the same Pieter Jacobsz of Bodegrave, as it is approved and granted to him hereby, And according to this then to have the entire debt incurred (standing on Marten Jochumsz's behalf alone) debited privately to the E. Compe. on his behalf, but nevertheless to leave the fugitives' account charged with the back tax open, and also to have it transferred in the new books to be described to The Honorable Governor General and Councilors of India over the persons, their Honorable. Further order was received: in order to be able to further determine the circumstances in which these could be mulched and condemned by the aforementioned their Honors for their faults, etc.

And in order to be able to demonstrate this our permission and agreement, the same Bodegrave was granted an extract hereof, including the hereditary deed of the aforementioned 6 morgens of garden land for himself alone, which previously belonged to him together with his eloping measure, and no hereditary deed because the surveyor had traveled through the land, etc., and had passed through it.

Thus done and passed in the Fort de Goede Hoope on the date and year as above.
