English translation

On that date, the free Saldanha sailors, seriously presenting themselves to us, as has often happened before, requested that they be allowed to purchase the moored boat "Schapen-jacht" at a reasonable price for their use and convenience, since the Peguin is simply too small and small for them, and their sails would then be well-constructed, in order to also navigate the islands in Saldanha Bay, as well as Badger Island, and to be able to furnish the E. Compe with seal meat for the slaves, etc.

This was passed away at the Council, and it was realized that the aforementioned sheep hunt had been deliberately planned for that purpose, in addition to another (planned) galley to replace the abortive seal hunt, with which to transport the sheep across and back from Robben Island.

And furthermore, that one can only sail to Robben Island with a vessel (as mentioned and planned), and therefore at least three to four men (as needed) may be excused, as the vessel's wear and tear and risk have been calculated. could well cost as much as all the seal's flesh that can be collected annually, since the said freemen pay the E. Compe. for 1/2 stuiver per lb. are salted in supplying and contributing.566

Thus, after careful deliberation, it has finally been approved and agreed to transfer the aforementioned sheep hunt (built from the second boat of the Wapen van Hollandt, 29 feet long across the stem and 7 feet wide) to the aforementioned free Saldanha sailors with sail and treble, as presently sailing, for three hundred guilders at a time, under the condition that they will then ensure that the sailors of the E. Compe. are provided regularly and always, when they arrive here, with seals and seals for the slaves.567

Thus done and resolved at Fort de Goede Hoope, date uts.
