After the sermon had ended this morning without the slightest hindrance, and according to Cristelycq custom, the third call had passed of the betrothed persons: Jan Sacharias of Amsterdam, young man and freeman here, and Maria, a native of Bengal, a former slave of the sick comforter Pieter van der Stael, and freed by the aforementioned Jan Sacharias for that purpose. Furthermore, nothing had occurred to us that might have delayed or hindered them in their intentions. It was understood by the Council, following the resolution of the July 6th Passado, to allow the further solemnization of the marriage to proceed in the Name of the Lord, and to that end also It was approved, so that everything might proceed lawfully and in good order (to God's greatest glory), to have the aforementioned solemnization (as without a minister) administered by the Secretary of our Council, for the same and for all the people, in an open council chamber, as was publicly performed and effectuated on the date after the reading of the Christian sermon in the Name of the Lord.
Thus done in the Fort of Good Hope, date of this.
