In accordance with our resolution of the 30th of May, the Council having taken into consideration the return of the yacht Maria from Saldanha Bay: in order to then deliberate whether she (present on the 29th of June returned from there with over 10,000 pounds of seal's meat) should be sent to Patria with the Guinean and Angolan cargo moored at the packhouse, or whether rather. goods here, until the arrival of the return fleet in February or March of the following year: in order then, according to the order of the Honorable Governor-General and Councillors of India, to distribute them among the return fleet, and the aforementioned yacht, but first, to proceed to Batavia, following the instruction of our Lord Majors.

Furthermore, in view of the satisfaction of the instructions left by the Honorable Commissioner Ryckloff van Goens, among other things still lacking, the survey at sea, from False Bay down to Cabo de Aguilles, including all depths, cliffs, reefs, sands, depths, widths, and extents of the bays, up to that point, to be included in a pertinent sea chart, and that various pilots, that one would have the other's work inspected: to be the least abusive, for which no suitable vessel is present here, as the aforementioned yacht Maria, because the Seal Yacht 547 (although too small for that purpose) remained behind on the Angolan coast,

And the aforementioned Commissioner in his E. letter to that effect, as also to use the return fleet annually to St. Helena and here for recruitment and other services, has requisitioned a suitable ship from the homeland, as well as by us in accordance with that, among others, submitted in our petition, that it might well happen, with the next letters from our Lords Masters, on which a report arrived, and this Maria was ordered to conduct the aforementioned hunts in such a way, which in the meantime would allow for the investigation of the aforementioned places in this season, and then from here to the South to search for the unfortunate Dragon's people. His Majesty on Batavia has ordered that this be done at the right time and by ship.

So, despite all this, it has been deemed appropriate to persist with our previous resolution of May 30th: in order also to comply with the order of Our Lords and Masters from the aforementioned Patria, that the yacht Maria should first be moored to Batavia after its return from Angola, especially since it can, with God's consent, be back from there at the appropriate time for the aforementioned voyage to the South, in addition to the requested further course of rice, etc., as is absolutely necessary for this residence.

In addition, the former E. Mr. Commissioner van Goens Meergemelt has also ordered roads for investigation548 of the coast between this Caep and Cabo d'Aguilles up to Rio Dolce 549, including in the journey from here to Batavia empassant can be observed and investigated, to include the affair and the summary of his death Ed. to present an offer to Batavia, and to send it here from there to annex the certificates, without having to do so. The hunt will need to come here again, and this can be observed at the most convenient times with all ships arriving here from the homeland, so that, according to the orders of His Eminence, the work of one another can be inspected, and thus everything can ultimately be brought to the greatest perfection.

Today, having once again brought before the Council the Hottento prisoners, Herrij, interpreter, and after much examination, having learned from them the names of their people, namely:

Autshumao, called Herrij by us, and author of all the mischief,

Khonamoa Namtesij, alias Claes, murderers of the young Davidt, according to Herrij's confession, who have been sought and not found,
Hemooä Khatimaä Herrij's great servant,
Khamij, alias Jan Cou, sheep thief,
And therefore, being held in custody with Herrij,
Boubo, alias Sijmon, also, but doubtfully, accused of the aforementioned murder.
Arre: Namthesijs brother
Beijmakoukoa Danhou, aka Orenbare
Humthasaankhumma
Khaikana Makoukoa aka Claes Das.
Khonamoa Namtesij alias Claes } Murderers of the young Davidt after Herrijs confession, who cannot be found,
Hemooä Khatimaä Arise great servant
Khamij alias Jan Cou schapedieff } And therefore stuck together at Herrij,
Boubo alias Sijmon also but doubtfully accused of murder
Arre: Namthesij's brother
Beijmakoukoa Danhou, aka Orenbare
Humthasaankhumma
Khaikana Makoukoa aka Claes Das.
Thoe Makakoa, shot in the buttocks by the sargeant with shotgun, along with his own excuse, and that the Caepmans and others would not let him off the hook, out of impurity and envy, because he alone was allowed to sail on the ships, and then bread and and other things to obtain, which is why the aforementioned Caepmans, and Gorachouqua once, had ruined his army and made everything run to pieces, asking him to live in a small house near the fort with his wives, just as we used to do here at first, and to serve us as interpreters again.

However, we note that the interpreter, Doman, tells us that Herrij had made the first attack on the murdered boy five years ago, and all the leaders of Caepmans' army, as well as all the inhabitants questioned, confirm that he is the cause of all the mischief and misunderstandings.

So it has finally been approved and established. to bring him to Robben Island at the first opportunity, as well as the two aforementioned detained Hottentoes, Khamij, alias Jan Cou, and Boubo, alias Sijmon, as two hostages, with the promise to release them when the right young murderers are delivered to us in the place, and to await further orders from our Lord Principals regarding him, etc., and if he wishes to bring his wives and house with him, he will grant this, and everything will be made known to the Caepmans and every one of these inhabitants.

And although peace has been reached with Caepman, it is understood that the 20 soldiers from the ship Prins Willem will at least remain here as reinforcements until the first ships from the Fatherland are expected in four to six weeks, since no one knows what tensions might affect this nation or what they envision.

It has also been decided that as soon as Herrij reaches the island, all his people, including the Watermans, should offer peace in order to be free of all enemies and to be able to travel and go everywhere more safely, etc., as well as to be able to claim reparation for the breach of the treaty from anyone who encounters bad news afterward, etc. And since Robben Island is so sandy that it has been found during the dry season that there is enough food for three months straight for as many sheep as there is to eat, it has been found good to bring over there each time by vessels (bringing or taking sheep) as much green grass and claves as they can carry: in order to do so. Over time, the island will be made evenly green everywhere, similar to the efforts in Taijouan, between the fort and the quarter, some 600 to 700 rods wide (done by Mr. Caron in the years 1944 and 1945). [This was] found to be a great success, and a sparse dune has been transformed into a beautiful green field with long grass, thus ensuring there will never be a lack of fodder for the sheep.

A certain person, an excellent sailor and also a trumpeter at the place, was nominated by skipper Claes Fransz Bordingh for only 8 guilders. of the month, and subsequently requesting some improvement, it is understood that the same should be improved by granting him the following deed, dictating, namely:

Jan Struijs of Dordrecht, who arrived in this country on pass 554 with the ship "De Provintie" (Province) for sailor at 8 guilders per month, is hereby, on the highest recommendation of his skipper, Claes Fransz Bordingh, due to his excellent seamanship and his request, and upon the approval of the Honorable Governor-General and the Council of India, added a remuneration of thirteen guilders per month for the boss to perform his duties as trumpeter, as has been done up to that date. The salary is effective today.

Furthermore, the person Jan Sacharias, free guarantor and living here within the fort, serving in the kitchen of the sub-coopman, fiscal and assistants, sighing introducing and requesting to be allowed to serve the office of bailiff and land messenger, sometimes already beginning to come into use and up to that point with a soldier's affair, has been approved to Comps. to excuse him from admitting himself there under the conditions and emoluments in accordance with the order of Batavia, upon which he was then taken the oath after the Batavias form 555 and confirmed the claims as bailiff and bailiff and handed over the extract thereof instead of act.

Thus resolved and arrested in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
