English translation

Today the chief captains of the ships Arnhem and De Hooningen on land complained that there was not more than 2 days' food of rice and bread for the people in the ships and therefore requested some rice from this land, of which there is so little at present, as to not exceed 100 lb. bread being at the warehouse that it could hardly be stretched any longer than 1 month 451, however it should be noted that the aforementioned ships needed to be equipped with something to drive them away from the roadstead, so that they might have something: to come back from Dassen or Robben Island, and to keep the people's mouths open, ultimately due to the lack of that in the very last moment of famine the aforementioned valuable ships could not reach wide, because God the Lord has mercifully and safely let them arrive in this port from such a difficult voyage. So (in order to preserve and conserve them as much as we are nearest to God) it is understood, above the assistance to her to date with over 30 cattle and more than 40 sheep &a. done, each with a burden to assist, and as is still happening, to save the Dutch meat also with 2 cattle452 and 2 sheep per week to continue on each ship, with which it will be possible to continue for another month and in this way the better the further relief of the fatherland or India can await with less price, which God the Lord please let arrive in the meantime or those of the aforementioned ships and here on land will be equally exposed, and neither side will have anything more to compensate each other, according to which the freemen everywhere have also been informed that they with their last week The provisions of the month must be seen to stretch as long as possible, since, for the safety of the aforementioned ships, and in accordance with the assistance provided to them in accordance with this resolution, no more provisions can be obtained from the warehouse for further action, as the ships currently ashore here are shaved over a ridge and are just as sparsely furnished. Therefore, the innkeepers have also been told not to hold any more meals or hospitality, nor to sell bread or any food to anyone until further notice and as provided above.

And so that Arnhem might be less embarrassed, it has also been agreed that two barrels of speck from Honningen should be provided. to surrender the ship to one quarter as above, plus another £454 anchor of brandy from the fort's meager store.

Furthermore, the captains of the aforementioned ship Arnhem requested that another be appointed in place of the deceased under steersman Jan Jansz Lichthardt, and so Cornelis Roelofsz Goutsmith from Rotterdam, who arrived in the country with the yacht Erasmus in 1654 for 20 guilders in the month of the month, offered to fill the vacant under steersman's position on the common. To board a ship, he is appointed by this person, in view of his good qualities and at his request, to the aforementioned vacant position of second mate, and, according to the rule of the general article of the contract, to the order of Our Lady, to earn 30 guilders monthly by halving the salary, effective today.

Thus done and resolved at Fort de Goede Hoop, date of this.
