According to the resolution of the 24th of December, the Council of this fortress (fortified and assisted by the Broad Council of the ships of Arnhem and Castle of Honingen) was approved and decided, among other things, for reasons in which it was assumed that the former helmsman Michiel Jacobsz of Bergen (provisionally substituted by the ship's council of Arnhem due to his death and lack of more suitable material to take up the skipper's position there for a better opportunity) would transfer to Castle of Honingen: to navigate with it as second skipper to the Patria, because he is somewhat lax in command and rather sweet on the drink, according to the evidence here at the Cape before our and everyone's eyes. of which too much and openly admitted, And that for reasons further disputed the reigning skipper Claes Speelman from Honingen Castle would transfer to Arnhem, to fill that place again, as well as the second skipper Jan Sijmonsz Clos, secretly at Honingen, there in Speelman's place the first skipper's appointment is ordered to remain, since his time as skipper in India has served its purpose, and his sufficiency and good commodities have been proven good &a., Nevertheless, in the meantime on the 7th of this month by further resolution the aforementioned skipper Speelman, on his serious initiative and for reasons further disputed, was allowed to remain on the ship Honingen, So after further deliberation it was approved in to transfer his place to Arnhem to the aforementioned Jan Sijmonsz Clos, to conduct the first skipper's meeting on the ship Arnhem instead of Honingen, and to perform his duties during the homeward voyage. It is then trusted that the aforementioned two ships will be equipped with good skippers and will be able to be transported to the dear fatherland (God the first) in good order.
Thus done and further resolved at the Fort of Good Hope, date of this.
