English translation

Although the ships of the ship Arnhem are not yet completely on their feet, and are still lying in the sick-house, besides a few others walking and standing on board, nevertheless, the Commander in Council has suggested that one should not think of a certain and fixed time when the ships might be made sail for their departure, since it is only after the report439 of the ship's chiefs and joint officers, in accordance with the resolution of the 29th of December ao. Passado, and the further declaration made several times, with the sails & a. could be decided: In order to secure the journey (much to the misfortune outside) to the fatherland. After careful deliberation, it was decided that, since it would still be too early to arrive back and reach the port of the fatherland, no less than the 25th of this month, to remain here for a more suitable season, to await the aforementioned end.

And subsequently, skipper Claes Speelman requested permission to remain at Hooningen, in accordance with the resolution of the 24th of December, not to depart from the ship Hooningen to Arnhem, but to remain at Hooningen where he is present, if unable to resolve to depart, on the grounds that such would be contrary to the order of the General Company. (meaning that every skipper who has sailed from the Chamber must return home, and for this reason the Honourable Lords General has also ordered Honours, etc.) Therefore, in order not to contradict their Honourable Lords' order, and since he, for the reasons mentioned above, appears completely unwilling to proceed, this has been granted.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
