English translation

The freemen were informed of our resolution of last November: to no longer sell salted meat or speck to them, for the reasons stated in resolution largo 411, and further added that the trade in beef is still somewhat sluggish, as it has since been somewhat revived, and the freemen still have few sheep to feed them, therefore requesting that they be willing to continue to accommodate them with meat and speck for a while. So, this is granted to them for the time being, as we shall see how the trade will progress. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated among the assembled freemen that their nets are hauled up every night in the river and cut into pieces (apparently by the Hottentoos), so that they are now very much at a loss and are unable to catch any fish for food. Therefore, after consultation on the matter, it has been decided to give them, and always provide, a good set of nets from the E. Compe. and accessories of casting lines and sail twine for its maintenance, in order to fish with them together, both inside and outside the river where it is best situated, on the condition that the E. Compe. From all the fish they catch with it, they will draw a just third of the price to feed this guarison, etc., in return for which they will be given, free of charge, as much Cape salt as they will need to salt all the fish they will catch with the aforementioned Comps, amounting to 2/3 of their total, since this salt is brought by the Hottentoes, but costs very little, and according to which, in addition to the aforementioned seine and rope, they have also been provided with it today, being new and costing forty guilders;

In addition, 2 white lines of 9 guilders, not taxed,
2 strands of sail twine, and
16 lb. loot to the stakes
Next, 2 white lines of 9 guilders, untaxed,
2 strands of sail yarn, and
16 lb. loot to the stakes
Plus 1 smalton of Caepssoudt, costing approximately 18 stuivers, as further agreed upon in the specification sheet below, to be included in the amount of extraordinary expenses.

The freeman Steven Jansz of Wageningen (the first advisor for the freemen in our Council) and his associates are hereby ordered to take care of the common stock. blessing and belongings: to be kept and cared for in his house, so that each time he fishes, the blessing is brought back to his house by cart or otherwise; to dry hanging stocks and to prevent them from being left at the river, and like their nets, not being cut up and spoiled; but that whatever breaks during fishing is first to be repaired and maintained with sail-line.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
