English translation

Today before the Council inspected the copy of certificates and confessions & etc. submitted yesterday by the sub-merchant of the ship the Provintie and besides which the surrogated skipper requested redress in the matters concerning the faults of adultery committed by the skipper Andries van Nes, with the wife of the said sub-merchant & etc. and about which the same, besides also. A woman named Cornelia van Savelpoel is detained on board by the ship's council. So, after due deliberation, it was decided to first conduct a thorough investigation and gather information, as there are also some disagreements in the current naval administration, and that proper order is being maintained by these newly appointed and appointed officers with good regulations, so that one might determine whether the Company's valuable ship, with which it will subsequently sail to Batavia, can be trusted, etc.

And regarding the aforementioned faults, it was agreed that the certifiers and confessors should be questioned at some point, so that further action can be taken as determined, primarily in the Company's best interest. To preserve the aforementioned precious ship and goods, and for this purpose, the skipper of the yacht Maria and Roeloff de Man, bookkeeper and companion in the Council of this fortress, in the presence of the Secretary of this same Council, have been appointed.

Thus done and arrested in the Fort of Good Hope, date hereof.
