English translation

In the presence of the skippers of the ships Oijevaer and Gecroonde Leeuw, we heard the constant and lame requests and complaints of the captains of the English ship Maijblom (also present), demonstrating their great need for victuals and certain ship requirements, etc., which, as could not be clarified, would consequently have to abandon ship and see to it, to save their lives, how they made their living, except that, due to the death of their carpenters at sea, the ship being free from damage in a storm, would not be out of place to go to sea if they were helped at cost by our ship's carpenters, and so on.

All of which, having considered and realized that after the Consequence, neither near nor Christian, would knowingly leave his Confederate friends of a faith to be embarrassed and perish through hunger and other lack. Therefore, the aforementioned skippers have first agreed to make an ocular inspection of the Englishman's situation on the aforementioned English ship: as well as to bring up with one to second whatever matters might be most necessary for the same and with the least damage or prejudgment of our Lord Majores, on which they came ashore today and having reported that they found the situation there to be as bad as it seems hardly possible. ship will be able to come to the right as long as it is somewhat accommodated. So it has been decided that the sooner the better to get rid of her from here, secondly to send from the aforementioned ships with 2 barrels of speck, 2 barrels of meat, 600 lb. of bread, 2 barrels of ore or groats, 1 ton of tar, 1/2 barrel of peck, 30 lb. of caesars, 400 stux 2 lb. of duijckers, 100 five-inch, 300 singled middle nails, 1 hawser of 3 inches, 1 do. of 2 inches, 1 cabletou of 6 inches, 1 out of sail, 14 lb. Sailing thread and one roll of French canoe for the repair of his sails, of which goods the aforementioned Englishman will, after due receipt, pass on as obligatory receipt: to pay for it, upon safe return, as much as our masters in the fatherland shall understand to be due.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the day and year as above.
