Thus, by resolution of February 1st of this year, passed in the Combined Council, it was also decided, among other things, that the cargo of the condemned ship, the Waalstroom, would be transferred to one of the outgoing Dutch ships, in order to transport it from there to the homeland, and that the Dutch goods from such soil would be stored here until they could be transported with other outgoing Dutch ships to Batavia or Ceylon; that furthermore, since the Saldanhabhaij had attacked the ships Oestgeest and the Lek on the 8th of the following day, it was also decided, by further resolution, that the ship Lek should be seized for the aforementioned purpose. to moor, and where at least so far had been advanced that, if this good and steady weather continued, the cargo from the said Waalstroom into the Leck would be completely transferred in a few days, so that with it, as well as the three hundred pieces of ebony recently brought back from Mauritius by the frigate Peter and Paul, in company with and alongside the four Ceylon return ships present, to be able to navigate to the homeland; And, for it is supposed that Oestgeest, which now sails ready for Batavia every day, would be able to carry such a good portion of the goods and part of the crew from the aforementioned ship the Lek with him, that the remainder and the remaining goods cash and the crew could adequately, or at least for the greater part, be accommodated in the aforementioned The frigate Peter and Paul could be loaded and shipped off. Alzo bij resolutie van den eersten Februarij deses jaars in den gecombineerden Raad getrokken, onder andren mede was verstaan dat de ladinge van ‘t afgekeurde schip de Waalstroom in een der uijtkomende vaderlandse schepen soude werden overgeset, omme deselve hier van daan na ‘t vaderland over te brengen, en dat de vaderlandse goederen uijt dusdanige bodem alhier soo lange soude werden opgeleijt tot dat deselve met andre uijtkomende vaderlandse scheepen na Batavia of Ceijlon konde werden overgevoerd; Dat verder daar op de schepen Oestgeest en de Lek den 8e do. de Saldanhabhaij ingevallen zijnde, den 20e do. daaraanvolgende, bij nader resolutie ook was verstaan het schip de Lek ten fine voors. aan te leggen, ende waar mede althans soo verre was geävanceert dat ook bij continuatie van dit goed en handsaam weer, de ladinge van de gezejde Waalstroom in de Leck in korte dagen volkomentlijk sal zijn overgezet, omme daar mede, als ook met de drie honderd moten ebbenhout, nu onlangs per het fregat Peter en Paul van Mauritius herrewaarts overgebragt, in compagnie en neffens de vier present leggende Ceijlonse retourschepen na ‘t vaderland te konnen navigeeren; Ende, want men vermeijnd dat Oestgeest , dewelke nu alle dagen naar Batavia zeijlvaardig leijt, een sodanige goede portie der goederen en gedeelte van ‘t volk uijt het voors. schip de Lek met hem soude konnen voeren, dat het overige en ‘t resteerende der goederen contanten en de manschap bequamelijk, of immers voor het meerder gedeelte, in het voors. fregat Peter en Paul souden konnen werden geladen en afgescheept, Soo is dan om redenen voors. als ook vermits de jegenwoordige schaarsheijd van koorn en ook om het voors. manschap tot onse laste alhier niet langer aan te houden, eenpaarlijk geresolveert het gezeijde fregat Peter en Paul tot transport als vooren expres aan te leggen, omme met Oestgeest in compe. na Batavia te zeijlen, ofte den zelven, in cas soo spoedig niet konde in gereetheijd geraken, op het cortste te laten volgen.44
