The Governor of Ede, in Council, having demonstrated how his Ede, in accordance with the letter from the Ede, Willem van Dam, Director of the Amsterdam Chamber, dated April 28th, 1953, had ordered thirty barrels of beer, which could not be stowed in Assendelfft (due to a lack of ship's space) for the government of Ceylon, had been loaded at 't Huijs te Loo to be ferried across again here in Assendelfft; and that Assendelfft, being in a swell, and in the midst of the ship 't Huijs te Loo, had become voyage-ready, in order to be able to turn her bow towards Batavia; his Ede, therefore, had been compelled to do the aforementioned. 30 barrels of beer in the presence of two of our commissioners, without sounding them on board, but covering the bomb holes crosswise with canvas, also with the cachets of our said commissioners, as well as those of the ship's superiors being covered, and in their presence to lift it ashore here from on board, and in the presence of two of our other commissioners to have it brought into the Comps. cellar; that furthermore the ship Assendelfft also showed up with us after that date, as the Huijs te Loo had also previously departed for Batavia and the ship's chiefs of Assendelfft were making some difficulty out of despair in order to bring the aforementioned to receive 30 barrels of beer within their borders, although they were still of the same constitution and size, as had been received on land here: So, after due consultation to remove their sustained difficulty, it was unanimously resolved and approved to unseal the said 30 barrels, and with the same beer, as far as that might extend, in the presence of two commissioners from this E.Achtb. Political Council, to be completed in the presence of the aforementioned ship's chiefs, and subsequently brought aboard the aforementioned ship Assendelft to be transported to Ceylon.55
Thus arrested and decided in the Castle of Cape of Good Hope on the aforementioned day and year.
