‘It has been resolved to have the wrecks of the ships Oosterland and Waddinxveen, stranded here above the Soutte River on the 24th of May last year,202 broken up, to use the best and most suitable as timber and the remainder to be brought here and cut into firewood; in addition, 500 members have been commissioned from both the Politicque and the Council of Justice to attend the aforementioned work there for eight days during the breaking up, namely the shopkeeper Corssenaar and Hans Holm, skipper of the frigate the Soldaat and Lt. van Rhede with the commanding bullman Brommert, the cashier Vieroot, with the master of the crew Meerland203 and, hastily, the standard-bearer Schrijver with the aforementioned. skipper Holm.'
